By engaging the community and all stakeholders involved, we get their feedback, possible solutions to the issues raised, as well as draw a sense of responsibility to each of them through their commitments.


Makerere University introduces a self-paced online climate change training
Makerere University, Centre for Climate Change
Research and Innovations (MUCCRI) is delivering an intervention on training and mentorship of media professionals and partitioners in climate change coverage and reporting. By offering self-paced online climate change training, we aim to improve the capacity of journalists, content creators, and communicators to report better on climate change. The goal is to help the media engage audiences, advocate for change, and raise awareness while addressing common challenges such as misinformation and emotional reactions. The primary targets of the training are media professionals and practitioners, including journalists, communicators, and content creators, who need knowledge and further skills development on climate change science, the importance of accurate reporting, and strategies for responsible journalism.

Localizing climate science into relatable stories and experiences.
For Media Challenge Initiative (MCI), the fight against climate change is not about distant statistics but about translating them into the daily realities of smallholder farmers in Northern Uganda. While global science warns of harsher droughts, unpredictable rains, and yield losses, such data only becomes meaningful when simplified into practical knowledge. Through our climate change radio dramas with journalists and local content creators in northern Uganda, we localize climate science into relatable stories and experiences that farmers can relate with, understand, and act upon.
