Climate Smart Jobs Launches the Uganda Climate Innovation Fund to Drive Climate-Smart Agriculture in Northern Uganda

Climate Smart Jobs (CSJ), implemented by Palladium in collaboration with partners Swisscontact, CABI, and Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited, is proud to announce the launch of Uganda Climate Innovation Fund (UCIF), a 7.3 billion Uganda shillings initiative under its comprehensive programme funded by the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO). The initiative aims to transform the economy through climate-smart agribusiness.

CSJ's overarching goal is to stimulate large-scale job creation to meet the needs of Uganda's growing population. Within this initiative is a component dedicated to delivering the Uganda Climate Innovation Fund, a challenge fund that will support innovators with climate-smart agricultural ideas with the objective of facilitating transformational change in Uganda’s ability to adapt to and mitigate climate change and promote sustainable land management.

To kickstart the challenge, CSJ is organizing the inaugural Climate Innovation Month event in November 2023. The theme of the event is "Innovate for Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture."

Key Event Details:

Gulu: November 24th, 2023, Innovation Village

Arua: November 28th, 2023, Desert Breeze Hotel

Lira: December 1st, 2023, St Lira Hotel

Participation in the Climate Innovation Month events offers a plethora of benefits, including on-site business diagnostics, technical support, masterclasses on innovation and design thinking, and an exploration of climate change adaptation in agriculture. Attendees will witness the showcasing of cutting-edge climate-smart agriculture innovations and have the opportunity to win prizes, with five exhibitors having the chance to win between UGX 250,000 to UGX 4,000,000. The events will provide a platform to market and promote products or services, network with industry players, and discover partnership opportunities.

Climate Smart Jobs encourages entrepreneurs, especially women and those seeking to work with refugees, to participate actively and contribute to the success of this ground-breaking initiative.
